General Manager – Expression of Interest

Location: Northern Ontario

Alexander Whitehead Executive Search has been retained by a major, globally producing mining company to identify a senior mining operations executive as General Manager (the GM). In response to an impending restructuring, the organization is seeking a new GM to provide strategic leadership over the sites with a focus on improving operational efficiency and productivity, cost management, safety, environment, and regulatory compliance.

The GM will direct day-to-day operations in alignment with the Company’s corporate strategy, develop cost-effective production plans, manage and oversee capital projects, and ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance through visible and proactive leadership. The GM will also develop strategic plans, oversee the annual exploration program, and establish and maintain relationships with representatives from local First Nations communities as well as with provincial and federal regulators.

We are seeking a senior operations leader with extensive underground mining experience and the ability to drive positive change at the site level. Profiles that are typically well‑aligned include:

• Professional Engineer – Mining Engineering
• Fifteen-plus years in mine engineering, technical services or operations leadership
• Experience with underground operations
• Strong capability in leading multi‑disciplinary teams to effectively execute operational plans
• Demonstrated experience working with site and corporate teams to develop and execute strategic and operational plans to achieve corporate objectives
• Based in, or open to relocation to Northern Ontario. FIFO arrangements from Toronto may also be considered
• Strong executive presence, stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to operate at Board‑facing levels
