Job Title: Azure Local VDI / Virtual Desktop Engineer

Location: Mississauga / Vaughan, Ontario (On-site / Hybrid)

Project Duration: One Month ( Tentative)


Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Azure Local VDI Engineer to support EPCOR in their Citrix overhaul project. The resource will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Azure Local Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) on certified hardware. The ideal candidate must be well-versed with Microsoft-certified VDI environments and have hands-on experience with Azure VDI deployments.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with EPCOR to design the Azure Local VDI architecture .
  • Assist in planning and implementing the migration from Citrix to Azure Local VDI.
  • Provide guidance on hardware requirements (HP certified configurations) for local Azure VDI.
  • Ensure compliance with Microsoft licensing (E3/E5 or equivalent) for virtual desktop sessions.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in deploying VDI in EPCOR’s environment and provide mitigation strategies.
  • Support in testing, troubleshooting, and validating the VDI setup.
  • Work with stakeholders to assess whether Citrix components (e.g., PACS) will remain or be retired.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or Azure Local VDI deployment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 E3/E5 licensing and virtual desktop access rights.
  • Familiarity with HP certified hardware for VDI implementations.
  • Experience with Citrix environments and migration strategies.
  • Understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure , including network, storage, and virtualization.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills .


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft certifications such as:
  • Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Prior experience working in healthcare or PACS systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and across multiple teams to deliver VDI solutions.
