Principal Engineer – Civil & Structural (Rail & Infrastructure)
Based in Croydon, UK, we are a leading engineering consultancy specialising in rail, highways, bridges, and infrastructure projects.
About the Role:We seek a Principal Engineer to lead our dynamic team in delivering high-profile rail and infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the design and analysis of bridges, railway structures, stations, depots, and highways.
- Oversee structural assessments, finite element analysis, and independent design reviews.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations including Network Rail, Eurocodes, British Standards, AASHTO, and UIC.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to ensure project success.
- Manage budgets, timelines, and project delivery to a high standard.
- Support business development through bid preparation and client engagement.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng, MICE, or MIStructE) preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, ideally in rail or infrastructure.
- Strong expertise in LUSAS, MIDAS, ABAQUS, or similar finite element analysis tools.
- Proven experience in managing teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Track record in delivering high-profile rail and infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of UK rail standards (NR, RSSB) and CDM regulations.
