We are seeking an experienced Trust and Estate Attorney to join our team in California. The ideal candidate will provide legal expertise in estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and amend estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.
- Advise clients on tax implications and strategies to minimize estate taxes while ensuring compliance with California and federal regulations.
- Handle trust administration and probate proceedings, including asset valuation, debt resolution, and estate distribution.
- Represent clients in estate and trust litigation as needed, including disputes over will or trust validity.
- Counsel high-net-worth individuals on wealth transfer strategies, charitable giving, and succession planning.
- Collaborate with financial advisors, CPAs, and other professionals to provide integrated legal solutions.
- Stay current with California estate and trust law changes, including tax laws and elder law developments.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active California State Bar membership.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trust and estate law.
- Comprehensive knowledge of California probate codes and federal estate tax laws.
- Proven experience in drafting complex estate planning documents and handling probate cases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LL.M. in Taxation or a certification in estate planning is highly desirable.
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families.
- Familiarity with elder law and special needs trust planning.
