We are offering a unique opportunity to lead Fauna & Flora's work, focusing on addressing biodiversity impacts of unsustainable and destructive fishing practices, particularly those associated with distant water fleets and bottom trawling globally.
This role will play a key part in developing strategies for advocacy to raise awareness at global, regional, and national policy levels, leveraging impact by influencing important stakeholders across various sectors, including the seafood industry and national and international governments.
You will work closely with the Director, Marine to support and integrate new work streams related to unsustainable and destructive fishing into our existing sustainable fisheries approaches.
We seek an experienced technical specialist with a proven track record in fisheries management and advocacy, able to work constructively with diverse stakeholders, including the corporate fisheries sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing effective strategies for addressing biodiversity impacts of unsustainable fishing practices
- Influencing key stakeholders to drive positive change
- Supporting marine projects globally to develop strategies for coastal communities and address destructive fishing
- Bolstering Fauna & Flora's portfolio and platform for engagement on this issue, including testing innovative solutions
You will have excellent research and analytical skills, combined with the ability to present convincing arguments. You must be able to communicate confidently and credibly to a range of audiences and have experience building and maintaining positive relationships within and outside the organization.
