POSITION SUMMARY
Reports to:
Senior Manager of Content Marketing
Destination DC (DDC) is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Digital Content Coordinator to play a key role in developing, optimizing and maintaining compelling digital content across web and email platforms. As a Digital Content Coordinator, you will manage and enhance the user experience across DDC's digital channels, ensuring content is accurate, engaging and strategically aligned with organizational goals.
Bring your proactive energy to a role that blends creative storytelling with technical precision, from managing deadlines in Wrike to optimizing content using data and the latest AI tools. You will report directly to the Sr. Manager, Content Marketing and will also work closely with the Digital Content Manager.
Your typical day as our
Digital Content Coordinator may include: You'll spend your morning researching and writing high-impact articles, itineraries, and blog posts that bring Washington, DC to life, ensuring every piece aligns with brand voice and audience needs. You'll jump into the
Drupal CMS
to build and refresh landing pages, swap out multimedia assets, and perform quality checks to ensure a seamless, accessible user experience on
washington.org . Using tools like
Google Analytics and BrightEdge , you'll analyze content performance and fine-tune on-page SEO and metadata to keep DC at the top of search and AI discovery results. You'll coordinate with creative and social teams to execute integrated campaigns, manage project workflows in
Wrike , and support the delivery of high-engagement email marketing to stakeholders and travelers. Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Content Strategy and Development
Collaborates with content marketers and cross-department teams to support the development of audience-focused content for washington.org and related digital sites. Aligns content with brand priorities, campaigns, partnership initiatives and business objectives while supporting SEO and AI search optimization efforts. 2. Editorial Content
Researches, writes, edits and fact-checks articles, itineraries, landing pages, blog posts and campaign content. Supports new content creation, including partner features, campaign builds and recurring updates. Incorporates member and partner additions into relevant site content and responds to incoming content requests through Wrike. 3. Web Content Management and Site Upkeep
Builds, lays out and updates landing pages, blog posts and evergreen guides within the CMS (Drupal). Maintains site accuracy and digestibility by refreshing content, replacing photos when available. Assists with ongoing content audits and routine site maintenance. 4. Content Optimization and Performance Support
Optimizes on-page copy, metadata and multimedia assets to improve SEO, AI search visibility and user engagement based on broader content team strategy. Uses tools such as Google Analytics and BrightEdge to interpret performance data and inform content updates and recommendations. 5. Messaging and Brand Voice Development
Supports the execution of DDC's messaging and storytelling approach across digital platforms. Learns to tailor copy for different audiences - leisure travelers, members, meeting planners and stakeholders - under the guidance of the senior manager of content marketing. 6. Multimedia and Visual Content
Sources, formats and publishes photos and videos that enhance digital storytelling. Partners with the creative and social teams to ensure visual assets meet brand standards, accessibility guidelines and are properly optimized for web use. 7. Email Marketing and Campaign Support
Supports the development and execution of consumer and stakeholder email communications, including advertising emails, Member News and Board Communiqué. Assists with email calendar planning, content builds, reporting, testing and performance tracking while ensuring accuracy, brand consistency and timely delivery. 8. Project and Creative Services Support
Tracks cross-departmental web and email projects within Wrike to ensure timely execution and alignment with editorial and campaign priorities. Assists with microsite launches, large-scale refreshes and ongoing content initiatives. 9. Quality Assurance and Site Integrity Support
Monitors, tests and helps resolve digital issues such as broken links, outdated content and accessibility gaps to maintain overall site health. Works with internal teams and agency partners to submit tickets for bugs and feature enhancements as needed. 10. Research, Reporting and Calendar Support
Maintains editorial calendars and content timelines. Conducts keyword research and monitors industry trends to inform content updates and new development. Shares insights during planning sessions to support informed decision-making. 11. Other projects and duties as assigned
What You Bring: Knowledge, Competencies & Skills
Required
Minimum 2 years of progressive professional experience in digital content, web management, marketing, or related roles. We recognize that expertise is built in many ways. If you have the skills to excel but a different year count, we still want to hear from you. Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with attention to detail and tone. Strong project management and organizational skills. Creative thinker with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. Proven ability to write engaging, audience-focused copy for various formats (blogs, itineraries, landing pages) with a sharp eye for fact-checking and brand voice. Hands-on experience building and managing web pages within a Content Management System (experience with
Drupal
is a significant plus). Solid understanding of SEO best practices, including on-page optimization, metadata management, and how to write for AI-driven search visibility. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and cross-departmental requests using tools like
Wrike
or similar project management software Preferred
Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field related. Familiarity with email marketing tools (e.g., Act-On) the ability to build, test, and report on consumer and stakeholder newsletters. Basic experience in sourcing, formatting, and optimizing visual assets (photo and video) for the web, with an understanding of digital accessibility (WCAG) guidelines. Experience using
Google Analytics
and SEO platforms like
BrightEdge
or Semrush to interpret data and inform content strategy. A passion for Washington, DC, and an understanding of the travel and tourism landscape, specifically targeting leisure travelers and meeting planners.
