API DevOps & Test Automation Engineer
The API DevOps & Test Automation Engineer is responsible for enabling and supporting the enforcement of API governance through CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks. This centralized role builds reusable tooling that engineering teams across device, gateway, and platform layers can adopt to meet documentation, versioning, lifecycle, and testing requirements. Working as a partnernot a bottleneckyou will help teams integrate validation logic, track compliance KPIs, and improve the reliability of API delivery processes. Key Responsibilities: CI/CD Governance Pipeline Development
Design and co-develop CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar that perform OpenAPI spec linting, schema validation, and governance checklist verification. Lifecycle Metadata & Gate Automation
Help engineering teams integrate governance gates into their deployment pipelines, including checks for documentation completeness, changelogs, version tagging, exposure level, and approval status. Reusable Test Framework Support
Provide and maintain test suites for unit, integration, contract, and performance testing, and advise teams on incorporating these frameworks into their API pipelines using tools like Postman, Newman, Pytest, or Prism. Governance KPI Dashboards
Build or contribute to dashboards (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus) that track test coverage, onboarding time, version/lifecycle compliance, and other governance metrics. Collaborative Debugging & Developer Enablement
Work closely with developers to troubleshoot governance-related CI/CD failures, resolve schema or metadata drift issues, and improve pipeline resilience without disrupting delivery velocity. Mock Testing & Compatibility Support
Assist teams with mock serverbased contract testing (e.g., Prism, WireMock) and help manage OpenAPI version fallbacks (e.g., from 3.1 to 3.0), ensuring exceptions are tagged and approved per governance policy. Required Qualifications: Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Experience:
5 to 8 years in
DevOps , QA automation, or CI/CD engineering roles Experience with OpenAPI, schema validation, and lifecycle metadata tagging Hands-on with
Postman /Newman, Pytest, and
OpenAPI linting/validation tooling
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with scripting tools: Python, Bash, or Groovy Familiarity with Docker and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with contract testing and mock server frameworks (e.g., Pact, Prism, Dredd) Familiarity with OpenAPI 3.0/2.0 fallback handling and governance tagging conventions Integration of security scans (e.g., Snyk, Trivy) and license checks into CI/CD flows DevOps certifications from any major cloud platform, such as: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional Azure DevOps Engineer Associate Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer These certifications are considered equivalent. Candidates with hands-on CI/CD pipeline experience and test automation depth are strongly encouraged to apply, regardless of specific cloud background. Work Location & Flexibility:
Primary location: Pune, India Aligned with global BU and Core Engineering CI/CD schedules. Flexibility is expected to support global collaboration across time zones.
