CHANEL is an independent company that believes in the freedom of creation, cultivates human potential and acts to have a positive impact in the world.

In a context of strong growth and transformation of Watches and Fine Jewelry activity, we are seeking a Principal Data Engineer within the Watches and Fine Jewelry’s Data Team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and shape the future of our data-informed initiatives at a pivotal time of technological transformation and growth.

As a key leader within the Data Team, you will oversee the Data Engineering sub-domain and provide technical leadership across all three sub-domains: Data Engineering, Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence. This position sits at the heart of our division's ambitious project to rebuild our data infrastructure from the ground up as part of our Federated Data Platform initiative. Your role will be crucial in driving this transformation, fostering a modern data stack approach, and reinforcing a robust software engineering culture.

WHAT IMPACT YOU CAN CREATE AT CHANEL

Technical and Strategic Responsibilities

You will lead the design and execution of a technical roadmap for the Data Engineering team, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with our broader product roadmap. Your leadership will be instrumental in managing change within the team and strategically guiding the recruitment of future engineering talent. Your participation in the company's Data and AI communities will also be vital in influencing our overarching technical trajectory.

Collaboration and Influence

This role requires a high degree of collaboration and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with product managers, business users, and other key partners to deliver substantial business value. Your ability to leverage your soft skills and emotional intelligence will be key to navigating the complexities of stakeholder interactions and ensuring the success of the team.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

While an exact match with our current technologies is not a prerequisite, you should have robust expertise in Modern Data Platforms (such as Fabric, BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake), data transformation tools like DBT, visualization tools (PowerBI, Looker, or Tableau), and ML platforms (Databricks, AML, VertexAI, or Sagemaker). Familiarity with Azure DevOps and a strong understanding of GIT is also essential.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

You will be entering an environment characterized by a philosophy of modern data management, advanced software engineering practices, and a proactive product management approach. Our division is experiencing hyper-growth, and we are committed to building data governance models that enhance business ownership and operational clarity.

OUR VALUES

Our team lives by the ethos of delivering business value, building together, keeping solutions simple (KISS), and maintaining a human touch with integrity in all we do. These values guide our actions and our approach to innovation and collaboration.

WHAT CHANEL CAN OFFER

We provide a vibrant work culture, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to work with cutting-edge technology in collaboration with industry leaders like Microsoft. This role is a unique opportunity to lead in a high-impact setting, driving data capabilities that influence the entire division and resonate throughout the company.

If you are a visionary leader with a passion for data and technology, eager to drive change and make a significant impact, we would love to hear from you. Join us in shaping the future of our data-driven decisions and innovations.

We invite you to apply and bring your expertise to our thriving team as we continue to grow, innovate, and lead in the data domain.

At Chanel, we are focused on creating an inclusive culture that nurtures personal growth,
contributing to collective progress.
We believe the uniqueness of each individual increases the
diversity, complementarity and effectiveness of our teams. We strongly encourage your
application, as we value the perspective, experience and potential you could bring to
CHANEL.
