Job Summary:
Our Houston, Texas distribution center is seeking an experienced Inventory Control Specialist to maintain the integrity and accuracy of our warehouse inventory. This crucial role involves overseeing all aspects of inventory management, including cycle counting, physical inventories, discrepancy investigation, and data entry. As an Inventory Control Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that inventory records accurately reflect physical stock levels, implementing and improving inventory control procedures, and minimizing stock variances. A thorough understanding of warehouse logistics and inventory management systems is essential. Safety is a top priority, and you must adhere to all safety regulations and properly use required PPE. While the role is primarily focused on accuracy and analysis, it may involve some lifting and movement of stock. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in physical inventory counts.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in the WMS (Warehouse Management System).
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve inventory accuracy and reduce shrinkage.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor stock levels and report any significant deviations.
  • Oversee the proper storage and handling of inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and proper use of PPE.
  • Train other warehouse staff on inventory control procedures.
  • Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to optimize inventory flow.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Inventory Control Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and logistics.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 30 pounds, as needed.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
