Are you a skilled and safety-conscious individual looking for a challenging role? We are hiring a Forklift Operator for our busy distribution center in Des Moines, Iowa. This position is essential to our logistics operations, ensuring the smooth flow of goods within the warehouse. You will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts to move, load, unload, and stack merchandise safely and efficiently. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) to move materials around the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers with inbound and outbound shipments.
- Stack and stage materials in designated areas, ensuring stability and safety.
- Conduct pre-operation forklift inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies.
- Accurately record movements of inventory using scanning equipment or manual logs.
- Assist with order picking and stocking as needed, utilizing forklift where appropriate.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts.
- Excellent understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Ability to read and interpret load charts and safety warnings.
- Strong spatial awareness and manual dexterity.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing and walking for extended periods.
- Commitment to safety and following procedures.
Safety Requirements:
Your safety is our top priority. All operators must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety vests and appropriate footwear. Regular safety training on forklift operation and hazard awareness will be provided. Proper lifting techniques and secure load handling are mandatory. Understanding and adhering to our strict safety protocols is non-negotiable for maintaining an accident-free workplace within our logistics hub.
