Foundational Science:
Practical knowledge of supervised and/or unsupervised machine learning, data science methods, ML operations, as well as familiarity with Large Language Models or Reinforcement Learning. Software Engineering:
Understanding of software engineering best practices (e.g., version control, testing, code review). End-to-End Systems:
Knowledge of machine learning pipelines, deployment challenges, and issues related to explainability.
Hands-on experience with programming and machine learning demonstrated through projects, academic coursework, or research. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or Spark. Experience with ML frameworks and libraries like Pandas, NumPy, or Scikit-learn. Curiosity, motivation, and a passion for solving complex challenges at Netflix. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Intention to return to your degree program after the internship. Internship Program Overview: At Netflix, interns experience a personalized environment that reflects our unique working culture. Qualified interns are matched with projects and teams based on their specific interests and skills, allowing them to fully integrate into their groups throughout the summer. Internships are paid and last a minimum of 12 weeks, with start dates available in January 2026 (Winter), May or June 2026 (Summer) to accommodate different academic calendars. Summer internships are primarily based at our headquarters in Los Gatos, CA, with limited opportunities in Los Angeles or New York based on team needs. This program is specifically for students who will be returning for at least one semester/quarter after completing the internship. While conversion or return offers may occur, they are based on business needs and headcount availability, and are not guaranteed. Our compensation philosophy takes into account market indicators relative to the specific job, skills, and experience of each intern. Compensation usually ranges from $40/hour to $85/hour, depending on overall market standards.
