Job Description
Position Summary:
The Material Handler II is responsible for advanced warehouse operations, including material handling, inventory control, and domestic and international shipping. This role ensures accurate documentation, compliance with U.S. export regulations, and efficient coordination of shipments using ERP/WMS systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing lists
- Pick, pack, stage, and ship materials based on work orders and customer requirements
- Prepare domestic and international shipments, including proper packaging and labeling
- Generate and review export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin)
- Submit Electronic Export Information (EEI) through AES
- Process export filings using the ACE portal
- Ensure compliance with U.S. export regulations (EAR and related requirements)
- Validate HTS/Schedule B classifications and maintain documentation accuracy
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers
- Perform ERP/WMS transactions for shipping and inventory updates
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliation
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (as certified)
- Maintain organized records per company and regulatory standards
- Support process improvements and assist in training team members
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of warehouse, material handling, or shipping experience
- Experience with international shipping and export documentation
- Knowledge of AES and ACE systems
- Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems
- Strong inventory control skills
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Incoterms
- Hazmat certification (IATA, IMDG, or DOT)
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing or distribution environment
- Basic understanding of trade compliance and customs regulations
