The Senior Data Engineer plays a critical role in designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines that support enterprise-wide analytics and operational needs. This position ensures reliable data availability, integrity, and backup solutions while driving continuous improvement in data architecture, tools, and methodologies. As a technical leader, the Senior Data Engineer provides guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment. **This position is located in Meridian, Idaho**
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group Design, evaluate, implement and test data pipelines for company use and needs. Actively research and provide solutions for technology and methodology enhancements for data activities Responsible for production data availability and any applicable backup solutions Handls moderately to high complex issues and finds resolution on escalated issues Responsible for end-to-end data processing from ingestion to reporting with considerations for optimization, reliability, security, data accuracy and privacy Review all relationships with data and third-party vendors related to data pipelines and make recommendations as appropriate to leadership Balance usage of cost and technologies regarding resource management Additional duties as assigned. Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field required; Graduate Degree preferred. 4+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related role Experience with the SQL Server stack (SSMS, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), DAX, and Python Experience with ETL tools and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure Experience with data warehousing Experience with machine learning, AI, and training data models preferred Knowledge of data security and privacy statuses/laws/policies (i.e. PII Data) A pattern of identifying the root cause for issues and using effective problem-solving methods to arrive at the best resolution option Strong analytical and advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions Demonstrated skills in exercising initiative and sound judgment in decision making A pattern of effectively managing unexpected issues or obstacles that may arise Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization An ability to independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Physical Environment:
The work may be done in a sitting position with no excessive lifting, pulling, or pushing, and limited twisting, bending, and stooping. While performing the duties of this job, there is required use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms.
