MANDATORY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in networking, including routing and switching in large enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience with routing protocols including BGP, MPLS, and OSPF.
• Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in deep packet inspection (DPI) technologies and implementation of NetScout InfiniStream solutions.
• Experience configuring SPAN ports, port mirroring, and network taps for traffic monitoring.
• Experience assigning IP configurations and managing network monitoring device connectivity.
• Ability to validate packet capture and configure alert thresholds across monitoring tools.
• Expertise in nGeniusONE configuration, including building service dashboards, custom monitors, and alerting profiles using ASI (Adaptive Service Intelligence) data.
• Experience with additional routing protocols including EIGRP, iBGP, eBGP, and IS-IS.
• Strong understanding of management protocols including SNMPv3, Syslog, and NetFlow (minimum 4 years).
• Advanced packet-level troubleshooting skills with the ability to decode complex application flows (HTTP/S, SQL, DNS, VoIP/SIP).
• Experience reviewing project design and system documentation (minimum 4 years).
• Experience designing network architecture diagrams using tools such as Microsoft Visio.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with City of New York network infrastructure environments and processes is preferred.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule, consisting of three (3) days onsite and two (2) days remote per week.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
• Assign ports for NetScout management interfaces and configure associated IP addresses.
• Configure SPAN ports to mirror network traffic for monitoring and analysis.
• Add network tap links into production paths without impacting live traffic.
• Configure and manage port mirroring for traffic visibility.
• Configure IP addressing for NetScout devices across the network environment.
• Validate packet capture functionality on each device and establish alert thresholds for monitoring.
