Embedded Controls Software Engineer
, you will significantly influence the current and future innovation of GM vehicles. We seek highly creative and motivated individuals who are passionate about Controls and Software development, with meticulous attention to detail. Key Responsibilities: Create robust algorithms for advanced vehicle features and systems, focusing on Brake and Chassis controls.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Software Engineers, Feature/Function Engineers, Calibrators, and Scrum Managers to ensure a comprehensive design process.
Work with Systems Engineers to define and refine vehicle, sub-system, and behavioral specifications.
Draft and document the necessary requirements for automotive system designs.
Design critical strategic interfaces within systems for component reuse and consistency with standard practices.
Integrate components with various teams, conducting functionality tests both on the bench and in real vehicles.
Assist specialists in root cause analysis for technical challenges.
Support software unit tests, HIL (Hardware in the Loop), and vehicle tests aligned with customer and system requirements.
Expertly capture and analyze empirical data to verify and validate system performance.
Continuously advance technology to establish new standards for control and system simulation.
Identify, document, and address system vulnerabilities, developing mitigation strategies and tracking corrective actions.
Assist in the resolution of issues related to controls and calibration affecting vehicles, plants, or customers.
Engage actively in team and program events such as Program Increment Planning, Daily Stand Ups, and Iteration Reviews.
Undertake related duties as assigned, including necessary travel.
Minimum Required Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or a related field.
2+ years of engineering experience in embedded systems (C, C++) and software development.
Proficient in Simulink, MATLAB, DOORS, GIT environments, Jira, and C coding.
Strong grasp of control system theory and its applications, including state space feedback, adaptive control, and model predictive control.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills for complex and challenging issues.
Effective collaboration and negotiation skills within cross-functional scrum teams.
Integrity, honesty, and a commitment to demonstrating leadership by example.
Excellent communication abilities, both oral and written.
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
Proven ability to manage multiple intricate projects independently and be accountable for outcomes.
Preferred Skills: Master's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related area.
Extensive knowledge in algorithm/software development and calibration for vehicle motion controls.
Deep understanding of vehicle dynamic systems.
Experience with plant modeling, analysis tools, and testing methodologies like MIL, SIL, HIL.
Familiarity with vehicle propulsion, brake control, chassis control, or automotive energy systems is a plus.
DFSS Green Belt certification.
