Your RoleAs our SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Determining the strategic development of SEN policy and provision within the school.
- Designing and delivering targeted interventions to bridge attainment gaps.
- Assessing and monitoring pupil progress in line with their EHCPs.
- Conducting annual reviews and acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Leading multi-agency meetings and supporting Early Help initiatives.
- Liaising with the Headteacher, Tutors, class teachers, and parents to enhance individual learning plans.
- Coordinating day-to-day SEN operations and maintaining accurate records.
- Providing support to colleagues in developing effective teaching programs and behavior management strategies.
- Overseeing annual reviews and ensuring appropriate professionals are involved in pupils' development.
- Communicating regularly with parents and carers to foster strong partnerships.
- Promoting inclusion and access to the curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Covering classes during teacher absences, with a teaching commitment of 50/50, preferably in Science.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- The National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to complete the new NPQ for SENCOs.
- Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning.
- A background in teaching within an autism/SEMH school.
- Experience in delivering training and leading INSET.
- A solid understanding of the SEND Code of Conduct.
- A commitment to professional development and a passion for learning.
