As a Principal Systems Development Engineer, you will design, define and implement complex system requirements for customers and prepare studies and analyses of existing systems.
Perform the measurement and analysis of subsystem performance for Dell products, with an emphasis on the server subsystem: processor configurations, chipsets, memory subsystems. Perform targeted studies to obtain optimal performance of a given solution (hardware and software configuration), write technical reports/whitepapers that summarize the solution's performance and isolate issues (bottlenecks) in the solution and obtain assistance from peers, or internal/external teams to eliminate or mitigate these bottlenecks work with engineering to consider changes where performance could be negatively impacted by design decisions. Maintain a broad knowledge of performance bottlenecks and potential performance impacts on the various benchmarks being tracked by the performance team and work with the performance architects to provide raw data to facilitate performance predictions on new products. ​ 8 to 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree or 6+ years with a master’s degree ~ Experience in performance engineering, AI/ML systems, HPC, data center platforms, or accelerator‑based computing ~ Deep knowledge of hardware and software interactions, and the ability to apply this understanding to resolve issues ~ Experience with MLPerf Training/Inference performance measurement Knowledge of distributed training frameworks such as NCCL, RCCL, MPI, and large‑scale cluster architecture
