Key Responsibilities: Enhance and validate forecasting models while developing specialized workforce analytics tailored for field operations.
Design advanced scenario modeling algorithms and support the expansion of models to new organizational units, applying your technical expertise.
Collaborate with data teams to create validation frameworks and establish performance metrics for modeling effectiveness.
Implement specialized forecasting components with defined performance metrics and execution plans.
Pioneer technical advancements in workforce analytics and mentor junior team members in sophisticated analytical methodologies.
Be prepared for occasional travel (up to 10%) to support model implementations and engage with stakeholders.
A Day in the Life: As the Workforce Optimization Specialist, your day will begin with a review of model performance metrics and validation outcomes across multiple forecasting systems. You'll partner with data engineering teams to enhance algorithms and work with business stakeholders to translate intricate technical concepts into actionable insights. Your afternoon might be spent developing innovative scenario modeling techniques in Python or R, performing statistical analyses to increase forecast accuracy, or presenting your findings to Operations Technology Solutions leadership. Collaborating regularly with cross-functional teams, you'll integrate analytical solutions, validate model outputs against real-world data, and explore opportunities for driving technical innovation in workforce optimization. About the Team: The Global Workforce Management (GWM) team leads the way in utilizing advanced analytics and machine learning for workforce optimization at Amazon. We create and manage sophisticated, data-driven forecasting models that predict demand and staffing requirements for Operations Technology Solutions and other expanding organizations worldwide. Our work directly influences strategic planning and operational decisions impacting millions of customer orders. Our team thrives on technical excellence, innovative analytical methodologies, and collaborative problem-solving, making this an exciting time to join and shape the future of workforce analytics at Amazon. Basic Qualifications: 2+ years of data scientist experience.
3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
3+ years of familiarity with machine learning/statistical modeling tools and techniques and understanding their performance parameters.
1+ years of experience in mentoring and coaching a team of researchers.
1+ years of experience working with or assessing AI systems.
1+ years of involvement in creating or contributing to academic publications or educational materials.
Master's degree in a STEM field or relevant experience in a STEM environment.
Experience applying theoretical models in practical scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in a STEM field.
Deep understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in problem-solving.
Proficiency in Python, Perl, or similar scripting languages.
Experience as a data scientist or machine learning expert within a large tech company.
Experience in defining benchmarks for assessing Generative AI model performance.
Experience collaborating across multiple teams on interdisciplinary projects.
Skill in applying quantitative analysis to address business challenges and make data-driven decisions.
Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas through verbal and written formats.

The base salary range for this position is as follows: USA, TN, Nashville - $132,500.00 - $179,200.00 annually; USA, TX, Austin - $136,000.00 - $184,000.00 annually. Your Amazon compensation package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final compensation being influenced by experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also provides comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and parental leave.
