Thesis work description:

Drug Product Delivery within Pharmaceutical Technology & Development is the sole internal AstraZeneca department that packs, labels and distributes investigational medicinal products to clinical trial patients. We support launched, pre-launched and products under development within all our therapeutic areas. It is a fast-paced environment where flexibility and agility enable us to deliver high value to early phase clinical trials.

Join our curious and creative team to support the optimisation of our material flow at Drug Product Delivery. The thesis will be conducted as an agile project with opportunity to influence the end scope. You will be involved in data collection, process evaluation, and the development of new Key Performance Indicators together with the leadership of the team.

Your project will play a key role in our mission to significantly reduce our lead-times within the clinical supply chain, to ensure delivery of patient needs.

Key Objectives:

Through applying Lean Methodology:

  • Collect and analyse data in an exploratory way to identify and describe material flow.
  • Help to develop and implement data collection to monitor process performance.
  • Design and suggest both quantitative and qualitative Key Performance Indicators for the flow of material.
Essential Requirements:
  • Enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s program (e.g. logistics/chemistry/pharmacy/engineering, or sciences).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
  • Excellent English communication skills, including speaking, presenting and scientific writing.
  • Interest in Lean Methodology
