We are looking for a reliable Material Handler to join our logistics team in Portland, Oregon. This role is fundamental to the efficient flow of goods within our facility, ensuring materials are moved, organized, and prepared for further processing or shipment. Your responsibilities will include operating various types of material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and potentially forklifts, to move raw materials, components, and finished goods. You will be involved in loading and unloading trucks, stocking inventory, and maintaining an organized and safe work area. A strong emphasis is placed on adherence to all safety procedures, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to ensure a secure working environment. The ideal candidate will possess good physical stamina, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude towards maintaining operational efficiency. Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting is beneficial. This is a great opportunity to be a key player in our supply chain operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate material handling equipment to move, sort, and stage materials.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Transport goods to and from production areas, storage locations, and shipping docks.
- Assist with inventory management, including counting and stocking.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse and work areas.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Wear and utilize appropriate PPE at all times.
- Identify and report any safety hazards or operational issues.
- Follow work instructions and production schedules.
- Contribute to a collaborative and efficient team environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a material handler, warehouse worker, or in a similar role is preferred.
- Ability to operate manual and powered material handling equipment.
- Physical strength and stamina to handle frequent lifting, bending, and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to PPE requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
