Job Description
The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the front desk operations during the overnight shift while performing accounting duties to reconcile the day’s financial activity. This role ensures accurate reporting of hotel revenue, balances accounts, and provides excellent guest service during overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Guest Service
- Greet and assist guests with check-ins, check-outs, and reservations during overnight hours.
- Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Answer phone calls and handle reservations or guest service needs.
- Ensure the lobby and front desk areas remain clean, organized, and secure.
Night Audit & Financial Duties
- Run the nightly audit process and close out the day in the property management system.
- Balance all hotel departments including front desk, restaurant, bar, gift shop, and other outlets.
- Verify and reconcile guest accounts, room charges, credit card transactions, and cash receipts.
- Prepare and distribute daily revenue and audit reports for management.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure all reports are completed and distributed according to hotel procedures.
- Prepare daily arrival and departure reports for the morning staff.
- Monitor hotel security and safety during overnight hours.
- Conduct periodic property walk-throughs to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Coordinate with maintenance or security if issues arise.
Additional Duties
- Stock front desk supplies and prepare materials for the morning shift.
- Assist with early morning guest check-outs and transportation requests.
- Support other departments as needed during overnight hours.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous hotel front desk or night audit experience preferred.
- Basic accounting and computer skills.
- Experience with hotel property management systems preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and handle overnight responsibilities.
Work Schedule
- Overnight shift typically between 10:30 PM – 8:00 AM , including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
