MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are looking for a Bilingual (Spanish) Environmental Health & Safety Manager for our Milgard Windows & Doors Temecula, CA plant.This position will administer facility Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Programs in accordance with OSHA, ANSI, EPA, local/state/federal regulatory requirements and corporate policies, standards, procedures, and objectives. The role will report to the site operational leaders (. Plant Manager, Operations Director, with a "dotted line" responsibility to the Corporate EHS representative. The EHS Manager will facilitate and promote proactive involvement within the facility(s) for all EHS initiatives and business activities to increase health and safety awareness, participation, and accountability. This role will provide day-to-day tactical support, in addition to the planning, development, administration and management of safety policies, programs and training for the organization, in partnership with the Leadership Team. The EHS Manager will be someone with a strong EHS educational background and EHS experience along with experience in leadership roles within a manufacturing or related industry. Responsibilities Order suspension of activities (Stop Work Authority) that pose threats to workers' health or safety.Assist operations and management in the review of incidents to determine root causes and corrective actions. Assist operations leaders, as needed, with corrective actions.Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.Accountable for the safety of all team members for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectationsManages and mentors the EHS Generalist and Coordinators as an internal resource on regulatory and safety policy issues and help develop processes with documented procedures for compliance as required.Assist department managers, leaders, and team members with implementation of creative approaches to improve safety, minimize environmental footprint and liability, and implement EHS initiativesEstablish and maintain training programs for all levels of operation – New Hire Orientation, Forklift, First Aid/CPR, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), Fall Protection, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Emergency Planning and more. Work with engineering in the design and installation of new or altered equipment or processes with the goal of eliminating or reducing health/safety hazards and environmental impact.Maintain compliance on key EHS related initiatives, reporting requirements and auditing.Provide new employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.Establish training programs for all levels of operation – New Hire Orientation, Forklift, First Aid/CPR, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), Fall Protection, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Emergency Planning and more.Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals or other substances.Participate in periodic hands-on safety audits of manufacturing work areas with plant operations leaders and assist in resolution of identified issues.Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.Ensure compliance with our required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Advise elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative or PPE controls to eliminate hazards and reduce exposures when hazards cannot be eliminated.Make recommendations for hazard controls based on comprehensive analysis.Promote, guide and champion various safety committees as well as serving as the Safety Committee’s Subject Matter Expert (SME).Develop training materials pertaining to safety issues as required by operations due to new or changing Federal or State regulations. Provides the training materials and delivers the training directly to all required employees.Actively leads and drives Risk Assessment and Behavioral Safety programs to eliminate/reduce environmental, health and safety risks and to meet identified facility targets.Motivates and coaches team members through good communication and frequent performance feedback on the production floor.Develops and manages department budget.Develops and tracks KPIs and presents EHS metrics to leadership.You will be on the plant floor for 70% of your time. 30% of your time will be in the office but of that 30% will be data entry as well as generating reports. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Engineering or Science preferredAt least 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or related industry. Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) highly preferred. Minimum of 1 year of experience supervising and directing people and other resources.Knowledge of all Federal, State, Local regulations and industry requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills as you will work one-on-one with all levels of the organization. Self-Start with Root Cause Analysis skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Prior experience training small and large groups. Willing to travel occasionally as needed (10% or less) About Us Our benefits package includes coverage of your health, wealth, and wellness for you and your eligible spouse/dependents.
