The Opportunity
Broadreach Recruitment is supporting a leading high-performance yacht builder with the appointment of a Structural Design Engineer to join their engineering team.
This is a hands-on role working at the intersection of design, production and composite engineering, supporting live builds while contributing to new product development.
You’ll be involved from concept through to production, working closely with the shop floor and design teams to deliver high-quality engineered solutions.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting production and driving structural design improvements across composite yacht builds.
Typical responsibilities include:
*
Producing 3D models and production drawings for structural components
*
Supporting live builds with drawing clarification and design modifications
*
Creating work instructions for production teams
*
Designing tooling and components to improve build accuracy and repeatability
*
Carrying out structural calculations (first principles and classification standards)
*
Reviewing surveys and contributing to technical reports
*
Supporting material testing and analysis
*
Attending production and project meetings
You’ll be working with Siemens NX alongside standard engineering tools.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
*
Degree in Engineering (Marine, Mechanical, Structural or similar)
*
2–5 years’ experience in composite design or structural engineering
*
Experience producing engineering drawings for manufacture
*
Strong understanding of composite materials (polyester, vinylester, epoxy)
*
Ability to work closely with production teams
Desirable:
*
Marine or boatbuilding experience
*
Knowledge of infusion processes
*
Experience with structural calculations
*
Interest in sailing or yacht design
Software Experience
*
CAD experience (Siemens NX preferred, training provided)
*
AutoCAD
*
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
