About

What we're looking for in our ideal candidate 5+ years of professional data engineering experience, with substantial experience owning a data platform or large sections of the data platform Strong experience shipping and owning production systems Strong experience designing and operating production data pipelines and platform components in a cloud-based environment, including ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows. Strong Python and SQL skills for building and maintaining production data pipelines and data models Experience with orchestration and workflow scheduling in production environments (Dagster, Airflow, or similar) Experience with data modeling and schema design, including relational modeling and tradeoffs between normalized and denormalized structures Experience with data reliability practices, including testing, monitoring, alerting, and debugging data quality or freshness issues Experience operating and evolving pipelines safely, including backfills, reprocessing, and schema changes in production Experience working with AWS for data workloads Ability to balance speed, correctness, and operational risk in a small team with evolving priorities Experience supporting real customers at real scale, including monitoring, debugging production issues, and improving system reliability over time Comfort evaluating and evolving an existing codebase, including refactoring, performance improvements, and reducing operational risk Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in a small team and across time zones high degree of ownership and self-direction, with the ability to take ambiguous problems and turn them into shipped, maintainable, and reliable solutions Ability to write clean, testable code and to raise engineering quality through thoughtful code reviews Care for building clear, usable data products and developer workflows, including well-documented datasets, reliable interfaces, and maintainable operational tooling. Willingness to overlap working hours with an offshore team as needed. Flexible work environment, with preferred in person collaboration (NYC) 2 days a week.
