About
Responsibilities: Building new, or upgrading / patching existing databases and associated software in accordance with vendor best practices;Delivering required database functionality that meets project requirements on or before defined due date; Working with Sybase Engineers and our service provider to deliver a highly available, resilient and performant database environment; Investigating, troubleshooting and resolving database incidents/problems escalated to the level 3 / Engineering team; Identifying opportunities for performance, availability/resiliency and process improvements; Ensuring Sybase database environment is secure, providing recommendations for improving database security and implementing approved security improvements;Consulting with IT personnel to resolve database related questions and/or concerns;Assisting other infrastructure teams in completing upgrade and improvement tasks and projects;Coordinating downtime with application teams and system engineers to implement approved changes;Interfacing with vendor SAP to resolve operational issues or questions;Following established IT / DBA policies and procedures.
