SUMMARY
Intrepid Fiber is bringing last-mile fiber connectivity to communities throughout the United States. We're hiring a Network Engineer to help design, develop, and deploy Fiber-to-the-Home network infrastructure, ISP services and support systems. These systems enable highly resilient network connectivity and support the entire lifecycle of internet service. The position will be located full-time in Broomfield, Colorado.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
What will you be doing?
Work with customers, Intrepid leaders, vendors and partners to collect and analyze network and system requirements Planning, installation and quality control of OLT and datacenter cabinet deployments throughout the Intrepid Fiber network. This will include, but not limited to:
Coordinating with suppliers to ensure equipment is delivered on time and on schedule Managing vendors responsible for physical and logical installations of datacenter and OLT equipment and ensuring workmanship and conformance meets or exceeds the standards and specifications of Intrepid Fiber engineering Work closely with Intrepid construction and operations teams to coordinate on time turn up of OLTs in support of corporate construction targets
Work closely with our Network Operations Center as a resource for escalated issues This position will require after-hours work in maintenances to perform equipment turn ups and other operational/maintenance work This position will require up to 20% of travel to Intrepid markets to oversee installation and ensure quality control COMPETENCIES:
What do you bring to the team?
Candidates will possess a bachelor's degree where they have learned networking fundamentals or 3+ years of experience as a network technician or engineer working directly on fiber-optic networks in either a planning, installation or operational role Candidates must have a desire to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment to expand their contributions to the team, especially in the configuration and maintenance of routing, switching and FTTH PON equipment Candidates must have a desire to learn fundamental scripting/coding with AI assist to progressively automate their tasks to scale Strong time management skills are mandatory Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design, planning to implementation Ability to communicate technical information to other technical or non-technical team members Preference will be given to individuals possessing familiarity and experience with the following:
FTTH PON electronics (BNGs, OLTs, ONTs) FTTH passive network designs and equipment (distributed/cascaded split, splitters, terminals, NIDs) Outside fiber-optic plant (fiber types, cable size/counts, splice cases, handholes/vaults) Datacenter environments, including power distribution, inside cabling
