We are hiring a skilled Material Handler for our Grand Rapids, Michigan location. This position is integral to our warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods. As a Material Handler, you will operate various types of equipment to transport, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. A strong emphasis on safety, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to all warehouse safety regulations, is mandatory. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment proficiently and safely.
- Load and unload shipments accurately and efficiently.
- Transport materials between different areas of the warehouse.
- Organize and maintain inventory in assigned locations.
- Perform regular checks on equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Assist with inventory control and cycle counting.
- Ensure all items are handled carefully to prevent damage or loss.
- Follow all established safety rules and wear appropriate PPE.
- Keep the work environment clean and orderly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse machinery is essential.
- Ability to handle significant physical exertion, including lifting up to 60 lbs.
- Knowledge of safe material handling techniques and OSHA standards.
- Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
