In this role as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer on the Prometheus team within the Embodied AI organization, you will lead efforts to design and implement offboard machine learning solutions that provide high-quality world estimates essential for multiple partner teams, including onboard model teams, simulation, and evaluation. Your work will impact every phase of the autonomous vehicle development process—from training and validation to testing and safety assurance. You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and play a vital role in influencing our technical direction while mentoring and supporting the growth of other engineers. What You'll Do Design and implement machine learning solutions that align with GM's objectives in autonomous driving. Utilize advanced techniques such as unsupervised pre-training, supervised learning, and foundation modeling to tackle challenges in object detection, tracking, and classification. Enhance model accuracy and efficiency through the strategic use of GM's large datasets, focusing on high-value data to address complex problems. Collaborate with various teams to ensure the deployment and servicing of models and algorithms at scale. Engage in applied research to stay updated on the latest advancements in ML frameworks and methodologies. Develop efficient infrastructure, pipelines, and tools to support rapid model iteration. Guide technical execution from initial prototyping through to production deployment, documenting insights and best practices. Mentor fellow engineers through collaboration and code reviews, promoting knowledge sharing and engineering excellence. Your Skills & Abilities Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field. Experience with large-scale foundation models and their application in real-world systems. Proven ability to deliver practical machine learning solutions under real-world conditions and timelines. Proficiency in PyTorch and Python. Experience building and scaling model training pipelines for efficient team collaboration. Strong communication skills that enable effective collaboration with engineering teams. Experience deploying machine learning models in production environments and understanding end-to-end deployment workflows. Prior experience in robotics or autonomous driving systems is preferred. Remote/Hybrid:
This role is eligible for remote work; however, candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford, or Mountain View are expected to be on-site a minimum of three times per week. Compensation: The salary range for this role is $189,300.00 to $320,700.00. The actual base salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Bonus Potential: Participation in an incentive pay program based on company performance, job level, and individual contribution. Benefits:
