This role is designed for someone who has progressed beyond entry-level responsibilities and is ready to take ownership of production systems while contributing to improved documentation, operational clarity, and reduced single-person dependency.

  • Manage and resolve assigned Help Desk and infrastructure-related tickets in a timely and organized manner
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation of systems, configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (switches, VLANs, routing concepts)
  • Familiarity with server backup and recovery processes
  • Experience with Microsoft administration tools (Active Directory, Intune, M365 admin)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain technical documentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently in a live production environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage workload autonomously

  • Experience supporting Dell server hardware
  • Exposure to firewall platforms (WatchGuard, Cisco, or similar)
  • Experience in higher education or multi-site environments

Reporting & Team Context

The Network & Infrastructure Support Specialist reports directly to the Network & Systems Administrator, who provides technical guidance, prioritization, and operational oversight.

This role operates in alignment with the Operations & Platforms Manager and broader IT and organizational priorities to support stable, well-documented, and maintainable systems across the institution’s core technology environment.

The position collaborates closely with other IT team members to ensure cross-domain coverage and reduce single points of failure across networking and systems operations.

Growth & Development

This is a growth-oriented position designed for someone who wants to deepen their infrastructure expertise over time.
