Senior Network Engineer
to provide advanced technology services supporting our local and wide area networks. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing network infrastructure that supports essential City operations and public services.
Minimum Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field of study. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in configuring routers, switches, firewall policies and access controls to support data networks. Requires a minimum of one year of work experience configuring and deploying enterprise wireless. A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA), Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Administrator (PCNSA) or other industry standard certification is preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion. Additional Requirement Requires effective communication with internal and external customers. Requires effective time management and task prioritization skills. Requires some local travel and use of a personal vehicle. May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends. Requires an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support. The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
