The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.
Location: Dublin – 2 days onsite
Duration: 24 months contract with potential extension
Key Responsibilities
- Build and deploy Java EE applications using traditional frameworks such as Struts, AngularJS, Spring, JSP, and JSF, and modern technologies including Angular, Spring Boot, and/or Quarkus.
- Develop with Java persistence technologies such as Hibernate, JDBC, and JPA.
- Apply containerisation and/or enterprise Kubernetes principles, migrating legacy monolithic applications into container images.
- Implement OIDC and OAuth2 for identity and access management on Java application servers (WebLogic, WildFly/JBoss, Tomcat).
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs.
Key Experience
- Practical knowledge of building well‑engineered software systems that are highly cohesive, loosely coupled, and secure by design.
- Proficiency in agile software development practices.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, specifically in Java contexts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging stakeholders to meet business and strategic objectives within regulated environments (e.g., compliance to information security requirements, GDPR, target architectures).
- Knowledge of modernisation strategies and patterns, including stateless, cloud‑ready, and immutable deployment approaches.
- Experience configuring OIDC/OAuth2 within Java application server environments.
- Familiarity with message queue integration patterns for RESTful API interactions.
- Skills in migrating legacy monoliths to containerised solutions (e.g., moving from WebLogic to WildFly/JBoss).
- Understanding of Kubernetes deployment patterns such as S2I, binary builds, and configuration injection.
Candidate Requirements
- Eligibility to work full time and long term in Ireland; or possession of a valid long‑term work visa.
- Appropriate right‑to‑work status for Ireland (Stamp 4 or Irish/British/EU passport).
