About Our SchoolsNorth Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 7-18. We focus on improving resilience, self-esteem, and abilities in all the young people we work with. Our school proudly holds the Accredited SILVER Award for Attachment and Trauma Sensitive practices and received an Outstanding rating from Ofsted in 2014.
Your Role and ResponsibilitiesAs a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring our school environments are clean, safe, and welcoming. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
- Performing cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Supervising school cleaning staff and promoting health and safety.
- Managing porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
- Reporting any issues to the Head Teacher and arranging larger repairs.
- Conducting daily cleaning and emergency cleaning duties as needed.
- Maintaining security as the main key holder, including locking and unlocking premises.
- Carrying out regular health and safety checks and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Previous caretaking experience in a school environment.
- Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
- A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- A full driving license and access to your own car.
- A willingness to travel between both school sites.
