Assistant/Associate Professor of Surgery – Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Position Overview:
The Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School and University of Minnesota Physicians (M Physicians) seek a full-time academic plastic surgeon. This position will include clinical practice in the Twin Cities metropolitan area as well as academic responsibilities in teaching, research, and service. Academic rank at the University of Minnesota will be at the commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Practice Details:
- General Plastic Surgery opportunity with emphasis on Breast, Wound Care, and General Reconstruction.
- Primary practice locations include M Health Fairview Clinics and Specialty Center – Maplewood, M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital, and the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Maplewood, MN.
- Additional surgical activity at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital and the University of Minnesota Medical Center.
- Successful candidate will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient clinical care and participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Employment & Appointment:
- Employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota
- Appointment will be full-time in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
- Academic responsibilities include teaching of residents and medical students, engagement in scholarly activity, and participation in service to the department, institution, and profession.
Qualifications
- MD or equivalent degree.
- Completion of an accredited ACGME Plastic Surgery residency and/or fellowship training program.
- Board eligible or board certified in Plastic Surgery.
- Microsurgical training is preferred.
- Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
- Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in Minnesota.
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, communication, collaboration, and commitment to academic surgery.

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: This is a common paymaster position that will have a combined salary with UMPhysicians commensurate with AAMC benchmarks for the specialty. The salary range is $450,000 - $650,000 for full time.
