The
Junior Systems Administrator
is an entry-level position within the Lightspeed Systems Management Information Systems (MIS) Department. This role supports the administration, maintenance, and monitoring of corporate systems, infrastructure, and end-user environments under the guidance of senior MIS team members.
Primary responsibilities include assisting with user identity management, endpoint deployment and lifecycle management, system updates and monitoring, and resolving technical issues across operational and business systems. This role is designed as a developmental position within the systems administration track, providing hands-on experience in infrastructure, cloud systems, and automation while supporting the organization's daily operations.
NOTE: This is a hybrid position, with several days each week required onsite at our Austin, Texas headquarters.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The following are the essential functions of the position. The list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.
Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for operational systems, applications, and end-user devices. Respond to, update, and maintain service desk tickets in accordance with MIS processes and SLAs. Assist Systems Administrators with infrastructure-related tasks and projects. Support the administration and maintenance of internal network and computing systems under supervision. Assist with management of domain and directory services (Active Directory / Microsoft Entra ID). Perform routine system updates, patching, and maintenance activities following established procedures. Monitor system alerts, security logs, and system health dashboards and escalate issues as appropriate. Assist with endpoint deployment, configuration, lifecycle management, and asset tracking. Support user onboarding and offboarding processes across business systems. Enforce administrative access controls in accordance with company security policies. Maintain and update internal documentation and knowledge base articles. Participate in on-call rotation with defined escalation paths. Contribute to automation initiatives and workflow improvements under team guidance. Utilize approved AI-assisted tools to support troubleshooting, documentation, and research while adhering to company data handling standards. Support monthly MIS expense tracking and reconciliation processes, including organizing supporting documentation and preparing expense submissions in accordance with company policies. Support continuous improvement efforts within the MIS department. ABOUT YOU:
Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 1+ years of experience in help desk, IT support, or similar technical role preferred. Strong working knowledge of macOS administration and troubleshooting in a business environment. Basic knowledge of Windows Server environments. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure / Microsoft Entra ID for identity and access management. Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Familiarity of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) is desirable. Exposure to scripting (PowerShell or shell) is a plus. Understanding with IT service management concepts (ITIL Foundation preferred). Interest in workflow automation platforms (e.g., n8n, Power Automate, Zapier, or similar tools). Working knowledge of AI-powered productivity and assistance tools for research, documentation, and technical troubleshooting. Skills, Abilities and Key Behaviors

Excellent organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively interface with technical and nontechnical staff at all organizational levels. Strong attention to detail with both excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to accomplish projects within specified deadlines. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment where high growth is the norm. Available to work flexible hours and on-call support, including weekends and holidays. Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to adopt emerging technologies, including AI-driven tools and automation, to improve operational efficiency. Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Ability to lift objects that are 50 pounds or less. Physical demands typical of an office environment including sitting, stooping/kneeling, reaching, handling, speaking, hearing, and seeing. The noise level in the working environment is usually quiet to moderate. Occasional work in server room with noise level moderate to loud. Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
