About
The Mechanic Foreman is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and readiness of landscape, snow removal, and light-duty truck equipment. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with leadership responsibilities, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and available to support daily operations year-round.
Key Responsibilities
*Supervision & Leadership*
* Supervise and support mechanics and shop staff
* Assign and prioritize daily repair and maintenance tasks
* Train team members on proper repair procedures and safety practices
* Coordinate with operations managers to ensure equipment readiness for landscape and snow seasons
*Equipment Maintenance & Repair*
* Perform and oversee preventative maintenance and repairs on:
* Landscape equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, loaders, skid steers, etc.)
* Snow equipment (plows, spreaders, snow blowers, loaders, etc.)
* Light- and medium-duty trucks (basic engine, brake, suspension, electrical, and hydraulic work)
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
* Ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards
*Fleet & Shop Management*
* Maintain maintenance schedules and service records
* Monitor inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; order as needed
* Keep shop organized, clean, and compliant with safety regulations
* Coordinate outside repairs or warranty work when required
*Safety & Compliance*
* Enforce shop safety procedures and company policies
* Ensure compliance with DOT and local regulations where applicable
* Conduct routine inspections and address safety concerns promptly
Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience working on landscape, snow, and/or truck equipment
* Previous foreman or lead mechanic experience preferred
* Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills
* Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs
* Ability to read manuals, schematics, and service documentation
* Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus, but not required)
* Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
Physical Requirements
* Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
* Standing, bending, kneeling, and working with tools for extended periods
Work Schedule
* Full-time, year-round position
* Overtime and on-call availability required during snow events
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.36 - $30.54 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
