*REPORTS TO:* Director of Technology
*POSITION GOAL/SUMMARY:* The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and operational integrity of the school district’s Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN). This role ensures that all network infrastructure including servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points support the district’s educational goals by providing reliable, high-speed, and secure connectivity for students, staff, and administration. The Network Administrator serves as the primary technical lead for network security, data integrity, and disaster recovery, while also acting as a Tier 3 support resource for complex technical issues.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Assists the Director of Technology in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the district's long-range technology plan, ensuring alignment with educational and administrative objectives.
* Installs, configures, and maintains network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
* Monitors and analyzes network performance across all district buildings to ensure maximum uptime and optimal bandwidth for instructional and administrative applications.
* Manages a high-density wireless environment (Wi-Fi) to support student and staff device initiatives, ensuring seamless roaming and adequate coverage.
* Administers physical and virtual server environments (e.g., VMWare, Hyper-V), including file servers, print servers, and application servers.
* Implements and maintains robust network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs to protect sensitive student and staff data.
* Manages web content filtering systems to ensure compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and district acceptable use policies.
* Performs regular security updates, firmware upgrades, and patch management for all network devices and servers.
* Designs and monitors daily backup routines for critical district data and verifies the integrity of restoration procedures.
* Maintains and updates the district’s Disaster Recovery Plan to ensure business continuity in the event of hardware failure or cyber incidents.
* Diagnoses and resolves complex network connectivity issues, hardware failures, and software malfunctions and serves as the escalation point for Help Desk technicians.
* Maintains accurate and up-to-date network diagrams, inventory assets, licensing records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Coordinates with internet service providers (ISPs) and third-party vendors for equipment procurement, warranty repairs, and cabling projects.
* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
*POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:*
*Work Year:* Full-time - 12 months/year
*Classification:* Network Administrator - Exempt
*Experience:*
* 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, with at least 2 years in a lead or project management role, preferably within a K-12 educational setting.
* Demonstrated experience with network infrastructure (managed switches, VLANs, enterprise wireless networks), server administration (Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policies), and telecommunications systems.
* Proven experience with project management in a technology environment.
* Familiarity with educational technology tools, learning management systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), and Google Workspace for Education.
*Education:*
* 2 or 4 year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Educational Technology, Education, or a closely related field preferred.
* Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, Google Certified Educator, Google Cloud) preferred.
*Specific Skills:*
* Deep understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and QoS.
* Proficiency with enterprise-grade networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Meraki, Ubiquiti).
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environments, Linux, and mobile device management (MDM) platforms.
* Experience managing Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft Office 365/Azure environments.
* Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
* Strong understanding of current networking standards, operating systems, data management, and cybersecurity best practices.
* Excellent technical leadership and team collaboration skills.
* Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a systematic approach to troubleshooting.
* Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and a rapidly changing environment.
* Commitment to providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
* Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and vendors.
* Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to technology in education (e.g., E-Rate, CIPA, FERPA).
*Physical Demands:*

* Ability to work in confined spaces such as wiring closets and server rooms

Pay: $83,500.00 - $87,000.00 per year
