Senior Design Engineer – Technical Location: Bedford Hours: 34.5 per week, Monday to Friday Salary: £42- £45k
Our client is seeking a Senior Design Engineer – Technical to join their technical team. This role will focus on delivering high-quality design solutions, supporting business development, and building strong relationships with customers across the construction sector. You will play a key role in advising clients on product applications, securing project specifications, and ensuring solutions are fit for purpose. This position also involves team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and driving continuous improvement across design and manufacturing functions.
Key Skills for a Senior Design Engineer:
* Proven experience in a design engineering role within construction or a related industry
* Strong knowledge of hydraulics, materials and product applications
* Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Microsoft Office
* Understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication and welding
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure
* High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Key Responsibilities for a Senior Design Engineer:
* Deliver technical design solutions for projects, including layouts, specifications and proposals
* Manage the design inbox and allocate tasks across the team
* Support and develop the design/programming team, including 1-2-1s and appraisals
* Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors and designers
* Identify new business opportunities and bespoke product solutions
* Provide technical support to internal teams and assist with customer escalations
* Liaise with Product Managers on new product development
* Attend sales and operations meetings, contributing technical expertise
* Ensure compliance with procedures, Health & Safety and ISO standards
