About
We are hiring an experienced Shipping Clerk for our busy facility in Chicago, Illinois. This pivotal role ensures that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be instrumental in our logistics network, coordinating with carriers, preparing documentation, and maintaining meticulous records. Your organizational skills and dedication to safety are essential for success.
Responsibilities:
- Process shipping orders, verifying contents and destination information.
- Prepare and affix shipping labels, bills of lading, and customs documentation as required.
- Schedule pickups with various shipping carriers and track outgoing shipments.
- Inspect packages for damage and ensure proper packaging and labeling standards are met.
- Maintain accurate shipping logs and update the warehouse management system (WMS) accordingly.
- Communicate shipment status updates to relevant internal departments and customers.
- Ensure adherence to all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Follow all safety protocols and use required PPE diligently.
- Assist with receiving operations as needed, which may include some manual lifting .
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and accuracy of our logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar shipping/logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip) and WMS.
- Excellent organizational skills, with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Capacity for occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Commitment to maintaining a safety -first work environment and using all required PPE .
- A solid understanding of warehouse logistics is highly valued.
