About
We are seeking a meticulous Receiving Clerk to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for incoming shipments, ensuring all goods are accurately documented, inspected, and stored. This role is fundamental to maintaining inventory integrity and supporting our overall logistics chain. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and organized receiving area, strictly adhering to all safety guidelines and utilizing required PPE . This position involves frequent handling of incoming goods, including lifting and moving items.
Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from trucks, verifying quantities against purchase orders and shipping manifests.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage or discrepancies.
- Accurately record received items into the inventory management system.
- Tag and label incoming merchandise appropriately.
- Direct received goods to the correct storage locations or designated departments.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe receiving area.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, if trained and certified.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE .
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Manage the physical handling of goods, involving regular lifting of packages up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in receiving, inventory control, or a related warehouse role is preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and data entry.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and logistics is a plus.
- Commitment to upholding high standards of workplace safety and proper use of PPE .
