We are looking for a reliable and efficient Receiving Clerk to join our warehouse team in Madison, Wisconsin. This role is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring that all incoming inventory is processed accurately and efficiently. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be responsible for overseeing the unloading of trucks, verifying shipments against documentation, inspecting products for damage or discrepancies, and accurately entering received goods into our system. The ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a secure and orderly receiving area. You will play a key role in maintaining inventory integrity and ensuring that our distribution center is well-stocked. Collaboration with carriers and internal teams is essential for smooth operations. This position is crucial for the effective management of our supply chain. Responsibilities:
- Accept and unload incoming shipments from various carriers.
- Accurately verify the contents of shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Conduct thorough inspections of received goods for any signs of damage, defects, or shortages.
- Document all discrepancies and damages and report them to the appropriate personnel.
- Enter received product information into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) promptly and accurately.
- Organize and stage received inventory for efficient put-away.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the receiving dock and surrounding areas.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies, including the correct use of PPE.
- Provide support for inventory cycle counting activities.
- Foster effective communication with drivers, warehouse associates, and supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in a warehouse receiving role or similar logistics position is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to use inventory control software and basic computer applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Physical capacity to handle frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and the correct usage of PPE.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience with or ability to learn to operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a cooperative member of a team.
