Our bustling warehouse in Detroit, Michigan, is seeking a skilled Material Handler to manage the movement and organization of goods within our facility. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for efficiently receiving, storing, and distributing materials, ensuring accuracy and timely handling. Your role is critical to the smooth operation of our logistics network, supporting both inbound and outbound processes. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas within the warehouse.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against shipping documents, and report discrepancies.
- Store materials in appropriate locations, ensuring proper stacking and organization.
- Pick and prepare materials for outgoing shipments or internal transfers.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, adhering to all Safety regulations.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Support overall logistics and inventory control efforts.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operator certification is required.
- Proven ability to operate various material handling equipment.
- Physical ability to perform tasks including frequent Lifting up to 60 lbs. and bending.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse Safety procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a logistics setting.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
