As part of our Network Infrastructure team, the Entry-Level Network Engineer will play a vital role in the operation and maintenance of our local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). This position involves participating in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware and software, along with communication links. You will collaborate with end users and vendors to address connectivity and networking issues, ensuring the stability and integrity of GameStop's data network services and enhancing the end user experience.
This position requires you to be onsite in Grapevine, TX, 5 days a week.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement network changes Adopt and adhere to current IT policies and processes Configure and deploy network hardware for new and existing roles Collaborate with users and vendors to resolve issues Monitor system hardware and software performance Maintain documentation on network configurations and procedures Assist team members with daily operations and troubleshooting Participate in on-call rotation for a 24x7 environment; flexibility to work extended hours and weekends is required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of OSI Model, TCP/IP, SNMP, and routing/switching protocols Familiarity with routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and management platforms (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet) Network management and troubleshooting skills with protocol analyzers and monitoring systems Strong interpersonal skills and team collaboration Effective problem-solving abilities with a flexible approach Proficient communication skills, able to explain complex ideas to various audiences Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities Ability to remain effective under stress and pressure Commitment to developing scalable technical solutions Adhere to GameStop's policies including attendance, confidentiality, and ethical responsibilities PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field CCNA/CCDA certification preferred Experience with Cisco products in enterprise network environments Familiarity with Aruba, Palo Alto, or Fortinet devices Experience in Network Access Control (802.1x) for wired and wireless networks Familiarity with SSL Certificate Authorities and management Knowledge of security engineering and application security protocols Understanding of load balancers, e.g., F5 LTM Strong documentation skills for design documents and diagrams Understanding of multi-unit (chain) retail systems and processes Project management skills are a plus
