Your RoleAs a Teaching Assistant , you will play a vital role in enhancing the learning experiences of pupils with a diverse range of special educational and learning needs. You will support teaching staff in helping students gain independence and fully engage in the curriculum and school life at Kirkby Moore School.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-on-one and group support to pupils in various settings, including classroom, lunch, and social times.
- Accompany pupils on organized school visits as needed.
- Collaborate with the SENDCo to develop social skills and appropriate behavior.
- Participate in the creation, delivery, and monitoring of individualized programs.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviors and resolving emotional responses.
- Maintain accurate records as required by the school.
- Engage in collaborative planning with teaching staff for effective support.
- Support the delivery of the Key Stage 2 and 3 curriculum.
- Contribute to KS4 programs of study.
- Participate in working groups as appropriate.
- Work as part of a flexible and supportive team to uphold the school's ethos.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and relevant INSET/CPD events.
- Relevant experience in a similar environment or appropriate qualifications.
- Academic qualifications to at least GCSE standard and professional qualifications to at least NVQ level 2, or proven competency in a similar role.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and maintain high accuracy in record-keeping.
- Strong time management skills and flexibility to meet job demands.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a busy team.
- Good oral and written communication skills across various contexts (pupils, parents, colleagues, etc.).
- Willingness to undertake relevant training for personal development.
- Knowledge of child development and different learning styles is a plus.
- Understanding of ACES or childhood trauma effects is beneficial; training will be provided.
- Access to a vehicle and a full driving license are required due to location.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check if selected.
- Term-time only role.
- Working hours: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri) and 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (Tuesday).
- Access to excellent training opportunities.
