What You'll Be Doing

Shopify Development & Architecture

✅ Leading and overseeing the end-to-end development of Shopify builds, ensuring they are scalable and optimised for performance. ✅ Architecting and implementing custom themes and applications using Liquid, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. ✅ Improving store speed, UX, and overall site reliability, ensuring the best possible customer experience.

Technical Leadership & Mentoring

✅ Acting as a senior escalation point for the development team, helping to resolve technical challenges. ✅ Providing mentorship and support to junior and mid-level developers, encouraging professional growth and technical excellence. ✅ Collaborating with UX designers and project managers to bring user-centric designs to life.

Frontend Technology & Best Practices

✅ Maintaining and improving the frontend tech stack, ensuring best practices are followed. ✅ Researching and implementing new tools, frameworks, and workflows to enhance development efficiency. ✅ Writing and maintaining technical documentation, improving project handovers and developer onboarding.

Strategy & Cross-Team Collaboration

✅ Defining and executing the long-term technical strategy for Shopify development. ✅ Acting as a bridge between the development team, product, and marketing teams, ensuring smooth collaboration. ✅ Clearly communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, aligning development with business goals.

Continuous Learning & Industry Awareness

✅ Keeping up to date with Shopify's latest features, eCommerce trends, and emerging technologies. ✅ Helping drive the professional development of the wider team through mentoring, training, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

What We're Looking For

✔ Shopify Expertise - Extensive experience with Shopify theme development, Liquid, Shopify APIs, and custom storefront implementations. ✔ Technical Proficiency - Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, with experience in React (Next.js, Remix.js), TypeScript, TailwindCSS, and Chakra UI being highly desirable. ✔ Leadership & Mentoring - Proven experience in a senior or lead role, with the ability to manage and develop a technical team. ✔ Problem Solving & Innovation - Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, optimise performance, and introduce new technical solutions. ✔ Communication & Collaboration - Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear insights for both developers and non-technical stakeholders.
