What They Are Looking For

Our client is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial activities across major civil infrastructure projects based in Cork. The role will sit within the senior commercial leadership structure and will work closely with the regional Commercial Director and project leadership teams to ensure strong financial performance across large-scale projects.

The position has been created due to continued growth in infrastructure delivery across Ireland and will involve overseeing commercial management across complex civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of commercial governance, project financial performance and subcontractor management while supporting the development of project commercial teams.

This role will suit a commercially astute senior quantity surveyor or managing quantity surveyor with strong experience within civil engineering environments and the ability to operate confidently within complex infrastructure delivery programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial management across major civil and infrastructure projects
  • Oversee cost control, financial forecasting and project commercial reporting
  • Manage procurement strategies and subcontractor commercial agreements
  • Administer contracts and manage variations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Produce CVRs and commercial performance reports for senior leadership
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities across projects
  • Lead subcontractor negotiations and final account agreements
  • Support and mentor project commercial teams
  • Collaborate closely with project directors and operational leadership

Criteria for the Role

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Extensive experience within civil engineering or infrastructure construction
  • Proven experience managing commercial aspects of large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, contract administration and cost reporting
  • Experience delivering projects within sectors such as water, renewable energy or transport infrastructure
  • Leadership experience managing project commercial teams
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
