Maximo Applications Suite (MAS) Intermediate
The Maximo team within the Information Technology department is hiring an Applications Intermediate for IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) Administration. In this position, you will provide system support for our water, gas, and electric utility operations. The work that you do is critical to maintaining the data integrity, reliability, compliance, and security of our MAS System. Your curiosity, ability to solve complex problems, and desire to use and build your technical skills will enable Operations to continuously improve processes, find cost savings, and solve operational challenges through the use and implementation of our MAS system.
You will be responsible, under guidance from more senior staff, for collaborating effectively with enterprise customers to provide best practices, development, and implementation of MAS solutions that increase efficiencies across the organization. The MAS system you will support in this position is integrated with other enterprise systems, which make up a complex set of hardware and software architectures. This includes but is not limited to industrial instrumentation, Geographic Information System (GIS), financial, procurement, supply chain, and other software solutions.
Key Focus Areas:
Perform routine MAS application configuration and setup in accordance with runbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Execute basic data maintenance tasks (e.g., data imports/exports, mass updates) with oversight
Maintain MAS application reference data (ServiceNow Queues, roles, templates, email notifications)
Assist with MAS application environment housekeeping (archiving, log cleanup, health checks)
Document configurations, procedures, and known issues in the internal knowledge base
Monitor dashboards, alerts, and scheduled jobs for assigned applications; log and triage incidents
Perform first-line troubleshooting (user errors, access issues, failed jobs, performance symptoms) using runbooks when applicable
Gather diagnostics (logs, timestamps, screenshots) and resolve Tier 1 tickets within SLA
Track incidents through closure and contribute to post-incident documentation and knowledge articles
Support routine patch/application health validation (smoke tests) after maintenance events
Serve as the first point of contact for end-user application questions and basic "how-to" requests
Provide 1:1 and small group coaching on standard workflows; contribute to quick reference guides and training materials
Assist with User Acceptance Test (UAT) coordination (test case execution, defect logging) for minor updates and releases
Promote best practices and encourage consistent use of application features to improve user adoption
Process user provisioning/deprovisioning requests and role changes following least privilege principles
Perform periodic access reviews and reconcile discrepancies according to documented controls
Ensure adherence to change, security, and data handling policies; escalate non-compliance risks
Support audit evidence collection (access lists, ticket histories, change records) as requested
Perform basic security hardening/testing with oversight from the Lead
Follow data privacy standards and report suspected issues promptly
Log and categorize enhancement requests; assist with impact/risk/effort pre-screening using checklists
Perform basic configuration changes in lower environments; prepare change documentation and rollback steps
Support integration monitoring (e.g., scheduled file transfers, API job status) and escalate failures
Coordinate with vendors on standard break/fix tickets, patches, and knowledge requests; track SLAs
Participate in change windows for minor releases; perform smoke testing and update runbooks as needed
Highly desired knowledge/skills/expertise include:
Most people in this occupation would have completed a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
Most people in this occupation would have one year of experience in application management and scripting.
Understanding of IT Application Technologies and their relations with Web, infrastructure, Networking, and DB Technologies
Technical troubleshooting skills.
Strong Desire to learn how to configure and support the MAS Application.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a small amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
