About

HyerTek is a Rockville, MD-based consulting firm specializing in Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365 solutions for government and enterprise clients. We deliver enterprise applications, data analytics, and process automation that solve complex operational problems. We are a small, high-impact team where your work is visible and valued. You will have direct access to leadership, real ownership of your deliverables, and the opportunity to grow with a company on an aggressive trajectory.
The Role
HyerTek is seeking a Data Engineer to build ETL pipelines, data models, and analytics foundations that power reporting and decision-making for our federal clients. You will work across the full Microsoft data stack - Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Dataverse, and SQL Server - inside IL2 through IL6 and GCC High environments where data residency, security boundaries, and compliance requirements are non-negotiable.
Your work will directly power the analytics and reporting layer across HyerTek's engagements. You will build the semantic models, pipelines, and reports that sit atop complex Dataverse architectures, delivering embedded Power BI dashboards for applications such as personnel analytics, manpower tracking, operational metrics, and executive decision support. You will also architect the data migration pipelines that bring client data from legacy systems into Dataverse during new engagement onboarding.
This is not a commercial BI shop. The data you work with supports real government operations, personnel management, and resource allocation. You will need to understand not just how to move data, but why it matters and who depends on it.
Requirements
Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines
using Azure Data Factory, Power Query (M), Dataflows, and SQL, extracting from sources including Oracle, SQL Server, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, REST APIs, and flat files. Design semantic models in Power BI,
including star schemas, calculated measures (DAX), row-level security, and aggregation patterns optimized for DoD reporting requirements. Develop and deploy Power BI reports and dashboards
embedded in Dynamics 365 and standalone, covering operational metrics, personnel analytics, disconnect analysis, and executive decision support. Architect data solutions using Microsoft Fabric,
including lakehouses, notebooks, data pipelines, and OneLake storage patterns as these capabilities become available. Design and execute data migrations
for new client onboarding: source assessment, data mapping, transformation logic, validation, and cutover. Implement data governance standards:
naming conventions, metadata documentation, data lineage, quality rules, and compliance with security and records management requirements. Support Architecture Design Sessions
by presenting data architecture recommendations and analytics strategies to DoD stakeholders. Optimize performance
of existing reports, datasets, and pipelines, including incremental refresh, aggregation tables, and query optimization. Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics, with significant depth in the Microsoft data stack. Advanced Power BI skills: semantic modeling, DAX, Power Query M, row-level security, paginated reports, and deployment pipelines. Experience with Azure Data Factory or equivalent ETL/ELT tooling for pipeline development. Strong SQL skills (T-SQL) for data extraction, transformation, and stored procedure development. Experience with Dataverse as both a source and destination for analytics pipelines. Understanding of data modeling principles: star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, fact/dimension relationships. Eligible for DoD Secret clearance U.S. citizenship.
What We Offer
Competitive base salary with performance-based growth. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits. 401(k) plan. Generous paid time off. Professional development and Microsoft certification support. Flexible hybrid work environment.
