As part of the Global Specialty Data Science & Analytics team, you'll have the opportunity to work on advanced use cases and contribute to the development of Generative AI capabilities across the organization. Your work will have a direct impact, driving innovation and operational excellence through cutting-edge AI tools. In this role, you will: Support The Hartford's AI innovation strategy by identifying and implementing high-end use cases that align with business objectives and emerging industry trends. Help create a cutting-edge AI vision and roadmap that positions The Hartford as a leader in integrating AI into the insurance sector. Collaborate with stakeholders across Data Science, Technology, and business organizations to enhance productivity and efficiency in underwriting and sales efforts. Design and build Generative AI solutions for various tasks, including summarization, question answering, data synthesis, and more. Apply advanced AI techniques to address low frequency, high severity exposures in Specialty Insurance. Rapidly prototype using modern tools such as VertexAI, LangChain, RAG frameworks, HuggingFace, and OpenAI APIs. Research and recommend innovative foundation models, tools, and libraries to enhance solution performance and reliability. Develop evaluation pipelines for generative outputs using a mix of automatic metrics, human feedback, and LLM evaluation methods. Work collaboratively with ML Operations to ensure the best practices for scalable training and deployment. Qualifications: Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of industry experience in machine learning or data science, with at least 1 year focused on Generative AI. Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying agentic AI workflows and systems. Proficiency in Generative AI tools such as Vertex AI, LangChain, RAG frameworks, HuggingFace, OpenAI APIs, etc. Strong understanding of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, agent workflows and LLM evaluation. Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow. Familiarity with vector databases and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Note:
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. This position does not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement. Compensation: The annualized base pay range for this role is $90,160 - $135,240, based on market analysis. Actual compensation may vary based on performance and demonstrated competencies. This base pay is one component of The Hartford's overall compensation package, which may include bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
