Job Summary This pivotal role involves operating large mobile cranes (150 ton capacity and above) to support industrial maintenance and construction projects within a thriving mining and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety, contributing to the successful execution of complex lifting operations in a challenging and rewarding setting.
Responsibilities Operate mobile cranes safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures. Assist in planning and preparing for scheduled lifting jobs, ensuring all equipment and personnel are ready. Provide operational and technical guidance to team members and participate in training and mentoring new operators and apprentices. Conduct routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of crane equipment. Support site management in safety programs, including behavioral audits, JSA's, SOP's, and near-miss reporting. Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets, including maintenance and capital expenditures. Participate in the selection process for certified and master crane operators. Comply with environmental policies and contribute to a safe, productive work environment. Perform additional duties as required to support operational excellence. Requirements
Minimum of four years of experience operating large mobile cranes (150 ton capacity or greater) or equivalent work experience. Completion of an Apprenticeship Program or a two-year Associate's Degree in a mechanical field from an accredited college. Certified Crane Operator certification, including passing written, practical, and panel interviews. Extensive knowledge of rigging procedures, cable reeling, crane load testing, and preventative maintenance practices. Proficiency with hydraulic equipment, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft applications. Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime in a 24/7 operation. Excellent safety record, physical ability to perform manual tasks, and ability to pass annual physicals.
