About
The consultant will support our global technology client with stabilizing, standardizing, and modernizing their data environment by refactoring legacy assets (SQL scripts, tables, dashboards, and data pipelines), improving data architecture, and aligning development with structured Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices. The focus of this role is improving pipeline design, reliability, and architectural quality of data.
Pay rate: $65-80/hr, dependent on experience
Duration: through 12/31/26 with likelihood of longer-term extension
Worksite location:
fully remote, with overlap with PST time zone
What You Will Work On
Data Engineering & SQL Development
Refactor and rebuild existing SQL scripts, tables, and workflows to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability. Design and develop new SQL-based data pipelines where needed, following data engineering best practices. Establish consistent coding standards, data modeling conventions, and architectural patterns across SQL artifacts. Ensure all development aligns with structured SDLC processes when modifying or replacing legacy assets. SDLC, Quality & Stability
Implement and operate within structured development processes including: Requirements definition Design and development Testing and validation Controlled production deployments Improve reliability by introducing stronger testing frameworks and change management practices . Data Pipelines, Workflows & Dashboarding
Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines , including scripting, workflow orchestration, table creation, and downstream data consumption. Support dashboards and reporting used by Finance stakeholders, including development within dashboarding tools . Architecture & Best Practices
Replace fragmented or speed-optimized legacy solutions with scalable, well-documented data architectures . Serve as a resource for SQL development and data engineering best practices within a finance-focused environment. What You Will Bring
Technical Expertise
Expert-level SQL , with the ability to design complex queries and pipelines from scratch. Strong data engineering experience. Hands-on experience developing reports using dashboarding or visualization tools. Experience working within structured SDLC processes, including requirements, testing, deployment, and production support. Domain Knowledge
Experience supporting Finance or Accounting data environments . Revenue accounting knowledge is a plus. Industry experience from technology or SaaS companies highly preferred. Experience & Approach
Demonstrated ability to modernize and stabilize legacy analytical environments . Ability to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of data solutions , from scripting and pipeline design to dashboard delivery. What You Can Expect
